This has given us a good opportunity to look at the varied and wonderful businesses operating across the East Neuk of Fife and how they utilise social media to engage with their existing and potential customers.
Two groups that have stood out for us so far is the Facebook group (application to join
pending approved very quickly) St Andrews CoffeeNet, and the East Neuk networking event in St Monans.
St Andrews CoffeeNet
The group set-up on Facebook is long-established with 179 members, moderated by 3 admins. The purpose of the group in their own words is to “bring together all those in the St Andrews area who are involved with or have an interest in Social Media for Business“.
Members are actively posting a variety of content, from business promotion, to providing help, support and advice to members. The group also brings together individuals and businesses with regular monthly meet-ups (every last Friday) in the St Andrews area between 10-11am. The topic of discussion is how to use social media in a business environment.
With monthly meetings and an active Facebook community this will certainly be a valuable asset for established businesses and new start-ups in and around the St Andrews area.

Diving Gannet, St Monans
Another networking opportunity for sole traders and businesses is held at the Diving Gannet cafe (10/12 Station RoadSaint Monans, Fife) in the East Neuk of Fife.
The meetings are held every first Tuesday of the month (next meeting: 12th September 2017) between 9:30am until 11am. The event is free to attend but please do buy a coffee or two (they do really nice ice-cream as well) to help support local trade.

The Value of Networking
As a new start-up ourselves with a passion for social media, we’ll be hoping to attend both of these events as the value of face-to-face networking cannot be underestimated. Not only are networking events a valuable source of information to help you grow your business, it can also be a great way to meet new like-minded people, provide and receive mentoring, and forge new friendships.
If you know of any more networking opportunities in the North East Fife area, please let us know in the comments below, thanks!
